Team HAVAL maintains top two spot in 2015 China Grand Rally

Team HAVAL has maintained its top two position despite a difficult second day of the gruelling 2015 China Grand Rally.

The second stage, run across the Tengger Desert, saw all drivers struggle with the soft, sandy conditions.

The HAVAL team of Han Wei and Pan Hongyu finished the second stage in third place, while teammates Christian Lavieille and Garcin Jean-Pierre finished sixth.

“That stage was tough,” said Han. “Our rivals enjoyed a big advantage today with their lighter weight and self-adapting tyres. I remain confident of our future performance.”

After two stages, the HAVAL cars fill second and fifth places, with the team of Han and Pan just one minute adrift of the number one car.

Running over 13 days from Xi’an to Dunhuang, the 2015 CGR – now in its third year – covers 8000 kilometres in an event regarded as a rival to the legendary Dakar Rally.
