Team HAVAL face tough challenge for China Grand Rally three-peat

Team HAVAL is confident of registering a third straight win in the grueling China Grand Rally, starting on August 29. Running over 13 days from Xi’an to Dunhuang, the 2015 CGR covers 8000 kilometres in an event now regarded as a rival to the legendary Dakar Rally. The rally is popularly known as the Oriental Dakar.

Team HAVAL will field two teams: Christian Lavielle/Garcin Jean-Pierre, who finished sixth in the 2015 Dakar Rally and the pairing of Han Wei/Pan Hongyu, who are coming off success in the 2015 Taklimakan Rally.

The CGR, now in its third year, is China’s toughest and longest off-road rally, taking in highlights including Jinsha Island in Zhongwei, Swan Lake in Alxa and the Euphrates Poplar Forest in Ejin. The rally continues to attract a bigger and better field of competitors, with the 2015 CGR boasting 11-time Dakar winner Stephane Peterhansel. He and his fellow competitors will face the toughest CGR rally yet, with organisers reducing the break time from two days to just one half day.
